Trolling PLDT, Globe, Smart and Sun!
Troll: This is really good news! The Troll see’s the budget brands of Smart and Globe as economic barometers of the country. The more these brands grow, the more reason there is to believe that the poor are experiencing some form of status upgrade.
TnT added 1.7M new subscribers in the first quarter of the year – effectively outpacing other prepaid brands in the country; the low-cost brand of Smart contributed 30% to the telcos overall revenues (up 28% from the same period last year).
To date, the total subscriber count of TnT stands at 22.2M.
Emmanuel C. Lorenzana, Smart wireless consumer division head:
“The brand achieved this stellar performance primarily because of its clear positioning as a value brand addressing the needs of a large base of customers and rising penetration across all regions.”
Troll: Is it positioning – or is the economy actually getting better? Are more and more Filipinos able to afford and maintain a prepaid line?
“The exceptionally strong usage of various Talk ‘N Text voice and SMS offers and low churn rate indicate a healthy brand preference among subscribers.”
