Trolling PLDT, Globe, Smart and Sun!
Smart Communication Inc. announced that it will launch a fourth generation (4G) dongle that can deliver up to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) internet speed (using High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA+) technology)
Troll: HSPA is an amalgamation of two mobile telephony protocols, High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) and High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA). It’s really awesome. Data speed can go up to 84 Mbit/s in the downlink and 22 Mbit/s in the uplink.
The new 4G dongles will be initially available in selected areas in the country, specifically in Metro Manila, Iloilo City (Visayas)and Zamboanga City (Mindanao).
Smart/PLDT has earmarked P67 billion in a two year modernization plan, to update and install network elements, wireless base stations, fiber optic cables and international gateways to further improve its service quality.
To determine the impact of its modernization program to its subscribers, Smart has hired independent professional engineering service provider NESIC Philippines, Inc. (NPI) to conduct a Speed tests on its mobile broadband services.
Troll: Note the word “hired”. Also, NPI was contracted by Globe last year for a speed test. Just can’t remember if they beat Smart back then (they probably did).
According to NESIC Philippines Inc. (NPI), Smart Bro Plug-It has outperformed its nearest competitor. NPI tests were conducted in 100 locations around the country from July four to six, showed that Smart Bro outperformed Globe Tattoo 100 percent of the time in terms of average download speeds.
