Troll: Hold up! Before you read on, please visit the official NTC page for subscriber complaints, which is also the same venue for where stolen or lost handsets are reported! Click this LINK to find out more!

Below are the things you need to do in an event that your phone gets stolen or lost!

STEP 1: Kill the SIM!

For postpaid, immediately inform your network about the theft. The operator can block the SIM card to ensure that you will not be charged for further transactions made on the phone. Be prepared to provide your account details to prove that the line is yours. If you are on prepaid, then don’t even bother. The thief will just ditch your SIM once he maxes out your load (but if you want your SIM blocked, then just declare your number in the form for reporting lost/stolen phones and the NTC will take care of it. More on this below).

Troll Tip: For postpaid subscribers, write down on a piece of paper the hot line of your home network and place this in your wallet. If you don’t do this and for some reason, your phone gets stolen, you will remember this reminder and ask yourself: “Why didn’t I follow the Troll’s wallet advice? WHY!?”

STEP 2: Kill the Handset!

Go to the NTC to have your phone disabled though its IMEI.

The IMEI is a code that is unique to your phone and the telcos can use this information to make your handset unusable on their networks. IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity.

How to get your IMEI

  • Press *#06# on your handset and take note of the 15-digit number. This would be your IMEI.
  • Or check the insides of your phone, specifically near the SIM card slot. Your IMEI should be there somewhere.

Troll Tip: You know that piece of paper where you wrote the help line number of your network. Add your IMEI to it and put the note back in your wallet.

Once you give the NTC your IMEI, it will then inform the telcos who in turn, will disable the handset from being used on their respective networks (once the phone is blocked, the words “SIM registration failed” will appear on the phone every time the thief tries to fire it up).

Note that disabled phones/handsets may be unblocked again, through the NTC or if the thief knows a very sophisticated phone hacker (Don’t worry, there are only a very few of them in the Philippines). Also, the NTC will NOT disable a phone without sufficient proof from the real owner so be ready with the following.

1. The Affidavit of Ownership and Loss. Click on this LINK to get the NTC form for reporting a lost/stolen phone; once you download it, print it out, fill it up and have it notarized.

2. Two Valid Identification Cards Let’s define valid as something government issued, a passport maybe. A school or company I.D. should also be okay. Be ready with Photocopies.

3. Proof of Ownership. May come in the form of the purchase receipt of your phone, or the bar code sticker of the phone’s box/packaging (if you keep your phone box then you may have a slight OCD problem – which makes it likely that you will follow the TrollTips listed here). If you do not have a receipt or the bar code sticker, a police certificate stating that your phone has been stolen will do.

Okay, that’s it. If you are lazy to travel to QC, try calling the OSPAC hotline. I have a feeling there is an option to send the documents listed above via fax or email.

URGENT UPDATE: Good News! According to phone theft victim Arby, there is no need to actually go to the NTC to file a blocking request. Just get all the requirements ready, then scan (i.e. convert to images) and send them over to ntcncr@yahoo.com and ntcospac@yahoo.com (just make sure to do a phone followup by calling OSPAC to see if your request is being processed).

Is There Another Way to Kill My Handset?

Yes. You can use the NTC’s “Text 682” SMS Reporting System (682 spells NTC on your phone!).

“Text 682” is an alternative way of reporting and disabling lost/stolen handsets through the IMEI code. Note though that the instructions below have to be done BEFORE you lose your phone – so if you already lost your phone, following the instructions below will not work.

Here we go:

(Note: all transactions below will cost you P5.00 per send)

For SMART/TnT and Globe/TM subscribers

Step 1: Register!

  • Find the IMEI code of your handset (check your wallet!) and text REG (your number) (the IMEI code) (your PIN code) and send to 682. (For example, REG 09151234567 123456789123456 1234)

Step 2: Your Phone Gets Stolen!

  • Block that motherf! Borrow your friends phone and text BLOCK (your mobile number) (your pin code) and send to 682 (For example, BLOCK 09151234567 1234)
  • In case you discover that your phone wasn’t stolen, tell everyone immediately and just laugh about the whole thing. If you mistakenly accused someone, apologize and make a lame joke and move on. Now you need your phone UNBLOCKed. Just text UNBLOCK (your mobile number) (your pin code) and send to 682.

Step 3: No, there is no step 3 – but here are other stuff you can do:

  • How to UN-register your phone (in case you want to remove yourself from the Matrix. Use the SIM and handset that you registered with and text UNREG (your mobile number) (your pin code) and send to 682.
  • Broke up with your girlfriend, and she knows your PIN, therefore – she can have your phone killed as an act of revenge. It’s your fault dude – you slept around and got caught. But still, you have to protect your phone. Use the SIM and handset that you registered with and text PIN (old pin code) (new pin code) and send to 682.
  • You want the instructions for the “Text 682” service in SMS? Text HELP to 682.

For Sun

Step 1: Navigate the Sun Cellular Emergency Sub-menu (enter “The Mall”, select Post Office, then select Public Service, then select Government)

Step 2: Find the TEXT 682 service. Available options are: Register, Block, Unblock, Unregister, Change PIN, and Help/FAQ’s

Note that the “Text 682” service will only be active for a year, after which – your will need to re-register.

For more information, contact the One Stop Public Assistance Center (OSPAC), and look for Victor A. Gusto.

  • OSPAC Hotline: 926-7722 / 436-7722 / 920-4464 / 921-3251 / 0919-299 9999

Hi, My Samsung Tab P1000 was stolen from me last Friday. I am planning to report it to the NTC and have it disabled. The primary purpose of this is there are confidential files stored in that phone. My question is, will deactivating the handset delete my files? or at least make the phone unusable so that the stealer won’t be able to access my files? Thanks.

Thank you very much! :)

Hello Ronald! The Troll apologizes for the late reply. Today was hellish, workwise. Ok, first the bad news:

Disabling your device via the NTC/telcos only makes it unusable for data/voice/SMS services. The thief can still use your Samsung for other activities such as word processing and games.

Your confi files are probably already compromised (for your next handset, do download an app that can password protect your files – it will only cost you a couple of bucks).

Also, as an added precaution, do change your passwords on Gmail/FB/Twitter/etc. (Just trust me on this)

Good luck!

Hi po ask ko lng po, how much mag paBlock ng phone?
Samsung galaxy tab p1000 and samsung galaxy fit po.
Parehas po kc nakuha nung FAKE BUYER. :(

Hi Tricka,

Good Day!

1. Blocking of a phone is FREE. Just follow the instructions in this article.

2. Did you give the handsets away with their boxes? if you did, then we may have a problem – to have a phone blocked, you need its “IMEI number” which can be taken from the phone or the box of the phone. If we don’t have the IMEI number, the NTC cannot order Globe, Smart and Sun to block your lost phones.

2. Did the fake buyer get your Samsung’s via eBay or Sulit? If YES, contact the site, they may be able to help you.

3. Did you ship the phones to an address? If YES, then ask help from the police.

Good Luck!

hi! my iphone4 got stolen today. di ko makita yung imei, wala din sa box nya. serial no. lang ang meron. pwede na ba yun sa ntc?

Hello Onie,

Apologies for the late reply!

Please check the box again, the Troll is sure that the IMEI is there – if not, it might be in one of the paper inserts. All mobile phone manufacturers are required to place the IMEI of the handset on the packaging.

No IMEI and the NTC cant help you :-/

Hello Jomai,

Apologies for the late reply!

I’ll send over a form (have a small problem though – I cant find the NTC form for Metro Manila, but I’m dead sure that what I’ll send over is pretty much the same as the form being used here).

For more help, try calling up our friends in OSPAC (this is the NTC team tasked with helping subscribers with lost and stolen phones):

Oh, ok ok. Well, maybe you can get a new phone by applying for a new postpaid plan – checkout the websites of Globe and Smart, they have a bunch of new offerings that you might be interested in! :-)

hi,

my phone was stolen on monday and i really want it blocked. i have the IMEI number but i never registered it. Even if i register the phone now, the thief may have already thrown away my sim and is using a different one. Do you think this will still work even if the phone had a different sim plugged in?

REG (your number) (the IMEI code) (your PIN code)
BLOCK (your mobile number) (your pin code)

Hi Ian,

Sorry for the late reply. Bad weather = bad internet connection. :-/

Anyway, I don’t think it will work. You need the active SIM of the phone + the IMEI to block it (and you are right, the thief would have already ditched your SIM and he/she is already using another number with your stolen handset).

I’m really sorry for your loss. If you have the IMEI of your phone, you can do the manual route and go to the NTC to have it blocked.

Good Luck!

good day.. my phone was stolen last june 25, i am planning to report it to NTC to have my phone blocked.. will they also be able to track or locate where my phone is? will it be possible to have my phone back? i lost my Samsung Galaxy Ace. thank you.

Hello Mayet,

Sorry for the late reply :0)

First, please report the theft as soon as you can. Check the instructions in this post to do so and i really really hope you have the IMEI of your stolen handset. the less people report these things, the more the problem will remain unnoticed.

Secondly, unfortunately, the NTC will not be able to track nor recover your phone; the most that it can do is block it so that no matter what SIM card is used, the phone will not function.

Good luck!

Hello Mayet,

Hey, i didn’t know that the NTC had a satellite office in Cavite; In any case, they might not be able to help you – best if you coordinate with the main office (though I might be wrong here. You can confirm things by calling the phone theft hotline of the NTC @ (02) 926-7722 or (02) 436-7722).

Hi. Tnx for your post. I’ve been searching around for an easier way to have the phone blocked, been at a lost looking for NTC’s website. You are a big help to all. But, just too verify, we would not need a police report if we have proof of ownership of the phone like the box (with IMEI sticker) and receipt? I had not registered the phone before to the 682, so I guess I have to go the long way to the NTC office. Again, thank you.

Hello Chris,

Good day!

Yup. No need for a police report. Box+IMEI sticker+reciept should do. And yes, 682 wont work after the theft. :-/

Anyway , I’ll send over the PDF by tomorrow. Try calling up the OSPAC number of the NTC – maybe you can just fax or courier the documents instead of visiting their office to save on time and money.

Lastly, please go through with the process of deactivating your phone – some of the email i get from phone theft victims mention that they would rather just forget about disabling their stolen phones because of plain laziness. Here’s some motivation – the thief will most likely sell your handset, and when you get it deactivated – the buyer will go back to the thief, hastle him/her, and demand a refund. You can consider this your payback! ;-)

Good luck!

hi. my 4s got stolen last april 29th. under globe plan 1799. i reported it to globe and made necessary arrangements to put my account on hold for 3 months and globe actually got my phone’s imei and said they’re gonna take lead blocking the phone blah blah blah.

problem is when i was browsing my mail, i found out that the man that was able to purchase my iphone was using my twitter account! hell with the man, but is there anyway i can get my phone back from him? coz technically he bought the phone from someone and it’s my bad that i did not report it to the police when my phone was stolen. are there any legal actions that i can take to get my phone back? can ntc help on this?

any help would be much appreciated. thanks much :)

Hello Jino,

Good Day!

First things first – if Globe really blocked your phone (through the NTC), then your handset would be completely dead by now. Any SIM card from any local telco will not work on it. So it’s a bit unlikely your 4S is still being used by anyone (unless Globe messed things up and really didn’t get your handset blocked).

Now, in case your 4S is still alive out there, and if you really want to get your phone back, it will take a lot of work:

1. Try to contact the guy who is using your Twitter account, who we assume is the original thief or the buyer of your stolen phone.

2. Tell this idiot, in a nice way, that you are willing to “pay” to get your phone back. If he does not respond, then at least you tried. If he bites…

3. Set up a meeting with him. Then contact the police and tell them your story (basically, how you set up this entrapment mission). Be sure to bring your supporting documents (i.e. a print out of your Twitter conversation with the thief, proof of ownership of the 4S, etc. – might be good if you had the IMEI with you as well)

4. Spring the trap. Note though, if the cops don’t agree to help, best if you just forget about your phone. We might be dealing with a dangerous dude, so just let karma sort things out.

Finally, if all does not go well, change your password on Twitter so that this guy who bought your phone on the black market can no longer use your account (though the Troll cant figure out why on Earth this guy would use your account when its so easy to make one).

As for the NTC side, best if you can call its Phone Theft Assistance hotline at:

(02) 926-7722
or
(02) 436-7722)

Good Luck!

I was just mugged earlier.

It was an android phone and was hoping to get it back, (which is more likely 1% chance)
I was desperate to get my phone back and stumbled upon an app called Plan B. It claims that it can track your mobile phone using the internet if ever your phone gets lost. If ever this app worked and emailed me the location of my phone, can the NTC or Local Police help me retrieve my stolen phone? I have the IMEI, the box, and the receipt of the said phone?

I really felt bad bout it bcos the money came from my first salary, from my first work.

Thank you.

Hello Chard,

Good Day!

First of all, forget about your phone and ask your friends if they’d like to watch a movie with you (the new Batman flick should do). Then after the movie, go to a coffee shop and talk about the mugging – this thing that happened to you is no laughing matter. You guys try to discuss why or how someone managed to hold you up and what you guys can do to prevent the same thing from happening again.

The Troll is assuming that you did not put up a fight and just handed your phone to the mugger – THIS IS THE CORRECT MOVE! better to lose a phone than winding up in a hospital or worse, winding up dead. The Troll understands the sentimental value of things, but our possessions are not worth dying for.

As for the Plan B app – please do some more research – the Troll is guessing that the app should be installed in your stolen phone in order for it to work. If you do get the location, it is most likely that it wont be precise (i.e. it will just declare a general area) so finding the thief will still be a challenge.

I’m sorry, most of this is bad news, but the most efficient anti theft measures can only be done before the phone gets stolen, not after.

Good you have the IMEI and the box – just have the phone disabled so the thief cant use it anymore. Just follow the instructions in this article (will send over the form later).

Good luck!

Hello John,

Good Day!

This would be the first time the Troll has been referred to as “Trolley” O_o
(In any case – it finds it a bit endearing…)

Sorry, tracking your phone and catching the thief would be next to impossible (Also, it is most likely that by the end of this day, your phone would already be sold to someone else).

Best you can do is have your phone killed by following the instructions in this article (will send the form later)

Hi, the iphone4s of my brother got stolen last two (2) days ago the problem is the SIM which is inserted inside the phone is a SIM from saudi arabia since they just went to philippines for their vacation. We would like to know how we could totally disable the function of the stolen phone? We badly need your help. Thanks in advance.

Hello Amy, apologies for the late reply. First of all, please have the SIM disabled (I’m assuming that your brothers account is postpaid, so a phone call to his home network in Saudi should fix this). Secondly, Please follow the instructions in this article to disable the 4S. I think this can be done even if you don’t visit the NTC – I think faxing the requirements to them will do. Good day My son’s phone was taken by holdapers how do i block those f####n’ s**ts so theywill not be able to use the phone, ive read about a form from ntc can i also request for that. thank and more power. Its a good thing some one like you gives help to guys like us, i hope one day a real batman would come out and beat those bastards to hell.

Hello Joel, Good Day! The Troll is assuming that your son is OK – so at least we have something to be thankful for :-)

Now on to business: I’ll send over the NTC form later – just follow the instructions in this article and you should be fine. If you have any more questions on the steps, just call the NTC phone theft hotline at (02) 926-7722 / 436-7722

If you want to get even with the thief/thieves, you will need to go through the entire process of blocking the phone (even if it becomes tedious or even if you feel that its beginning to become too much of a hastle). the Troll’s guess is that 99% of stolen phones get resold in the black market – so when a thief sells a stolen handset and all of a sudden, it gets blocked and becomes non functional, the buyer will go back to the thief and give him/her hell – this would be your payback to those bastards.

The Troll has been getting a lot of emails on the matter -how a victim will abandon the process of getting a stolen phone blocked due to “Nakakatamad” or “I’ll just be more vigilant next time” or “It’s fine, I can afford to buy another phone.” – this is bad for us. Not having a stolen phone blocked only reinforces the actions of the thief and it makes the act of stealing phones very profitable. So to everyone – if you want to get even, be your own Batman then have your phone blocked.

Anyway, the Troll hopes you son is doing well. Good Luck Sir! -The Troll

yeah.. my smartphone was stolen last saturday, and i have been reading your article..

but then it hit me — if i were to block my phone (which i assume the thief is using right now, or he probably sold it) and the phone is unusable now, i’m pretty sure it will trigger him the urge to steal another phone..

so my question is: is my theory right? :S

thanks!

Hello Heck,

Good Day! Hmmm.

We have two goals:

a. You want to get even with the thief and with people who buy stolen phones. There is a 99% chance that what was taken from you will be sold – and a dead phone creates a lot of problems for both the buyer and the seller.

b. You are right – the thief will most likely just steal another phone once you disable the one he/she has stolen, but the more instances that the thief gets frustrated, the more chances that he/she will stop.

Hope this helps! :-)

Good eveving po, first gusto ko lng po magpsalamat sa mga advices na bnbgay nio, i read all those questions and comments. Same problem din po skin, gusto ko din po sana pa block ung fone ko and ung number ko. nawoworry po kasi ako paano nanakawan po kami ng cellphone ng daddy ko nung monday, then i try to contact it as early as i confirmed na nanakwan nga kami, pero unfortunately ung sim ko active padin. usually po kasi diba pag nanakaw tinatapon na ung simcard. pero kanina triny ko ulit twgan ung number ko but unfortunately naka ON pdin siya. natatakot po ako kasi bka gmitin nila sa masama ung number ko, or kung anung modus operandi meron sila, bka po pati ung mga contacts ko eh guluhin or gumawa sila ng anung gimik. need ko po ung help niyo kung paano po mablock ung fone ko and sim. may online po ba pra makontact ung ntc?. pde din po pakisend po ung form sakin. maraming slamat po and Godbless you.

Hello Jaezel,

Good Day! Apologies, my Tagalog is not so good – but I’ll try to answer your questions as best as I can :-)

1. Yes, the fact that the thief is keeping your SIM alive should be a cause of concern. It is most likely that he/she will try to pull a scam using your number. The good thing is, most of your contacts also have social network accounts – so as soon as you can, please announce on Facebook and Twitter that your phone got stolen; tell your family and friends to ignore any message or call from your old number.

2. Unfortunately, there is no “online” way to have a phone blocked. The process is still very much manual with the NTC. I outlined a process on how to accomplish the phone blocking in the article above – but if you have any additional questions, please call the NTC lost phone assistance unit (OSPAC) at (02) 926-7722 / 436-7722.

3. Ill send over the form later.

Hi Troll,

I find your article very helpful. I was also a victim last July 7 but I did not report my stolen phone to NTC for blocking. However, one of my friends who I am not acquainted with online called my stolen sim and someone was still actually using it to my surprise. I had tried calling that number previously to no avail. Due to this I am now taking action to block my phone via NTC. Hope you can send the updated form to me. Thank you!

Hello Ces! Good Day!

1. Will send over the form later – I’m away from my laptop at the moment. Please note though that blocking your phone only kills the handset and your SIM can still be used by the thief (or the guy who bought your stolen phone, who is to cheap to buy his own SIM). Unfortunately, the Troll isn’t sure if the telcos offer a SIM block service for prepaid – most likely they don’t since it will be very hard for them to verify that you are indeed the owner of the stolen SIM. The most that you can do is announce on FB/Twitter that you have a new number and that your friends and family should ignore any messages or calls from your old number.

2. I checked out your travel blog – very nice! I like that you offer a detailed walk through of the destinations you’ve visited. If you ever wind up in Batanes, please send me a note. I’d be really interested to read you post on the place! :-)

Hi! lost my smartphone today and was planning to have it disabled by NTC. I tried the tracking (findmyiphone) but it stopped working when the phone was turned off. Seeing how complicated the process of submitting papers etc, i am looking at the TEXT 682 as the best option. I just have a question for the registration.

“and text REG (your number)”——> for this part, will this be the number that was lost or the number of the phone that i borrowed(since i lost mine)?

hope you can enlighten me.thanks.

Hello Leng, Good Day!

Hmmm, this is a bit embarrassing – the Troll isn’t sure. :-D

Although, my guts tell me that in order for the registration to work, you must send:

REG (the number of the SIM card currently being used in the phone you wish to register) (the IMEI code of the phone) (your PIN code) to 682

You need to register your phone while you still have it (i.e. before it gets stolen); if the system isn’t designed this way, then people can randomly disable phones just by using random IMEI’s.

Hope this helps. Good Luck! -The Troll

My samsung galaxy note got stolen last friday. i am using a postpaid sim and was able to block my postpaid account for a few days until i have a new phone. now i am using my new phone and have unblocked my postpaid. my question is…
If i follow the steps to block the handset will it not affect my postpaid line since i am using it again… because the steps mentioned that i also have to input my number din kasi.

(not sure if this concern is already raised and answered but hope you can still reply)

Thanks in advance!

Hello Rogue22, Good Day!

Ok – just to be clear. Your on postpaid -> you had your number disabled because your phone got stolen -> then you requested for another SIM that will carry your old number -> now you want to have your stolen Samsung Galaxy Note blocked -> Its not a problem :-)

A blocked phone simply means that any Globe, Sun or Smart SIM card wont work on it. It wont have an effect on your current number, so please – go ahead, have your phone blocked so that you can get even with the person who bought it from the thief.

Good Luck!

Hi Troll,

Good Day! I gave my old Sony Ericsson mobile phone to my daughter and it got stolen 3 days ago. I have read from your previous replies that you can send the pdf form. Can you send me one as well?..I want to have that phone blocked so that asshole thief could not enjoy it. Now, my problem is that the box with the IMEI No. and the receipt are here with me in Macau and my daughter is in Phils.. I can ask my mom to go to NTC and report it but all the requirements you need is here with me. Would it be possible to still have that phone blocked? What are the requirements does my mom need to bring then? Please advice. Many thanks!

Hello Sahlee,

Good Day!

1. Yes, please have the phone blocked. The thief will sell the stolen phone to someone, and if you have the handset killed – that someone will go back to the thief and ask for his/her money back which creates a lot of problems for the thief. Get even!
2. Will send the PDF later.
3. Just email the IMEI# and a scanned copy of the receipt to your mom. Then ask her to clarify things with the phone theft hotline of the NTC at: (02) 926-7722 / (02) 436-7722

Hi Mr. Troll. ^_^

Hi Rissa,

Good Day! Apologies, I can read and speak Tagalog, but I cant write using it (it just sounds funny when i do). Anyway:

1. Yes, a phone that was blocked by the NTC can be unblocked by a technician – luckily, only a few know how. I wont discuss this too much here because I might give ideas to people.
2. The thief wont go to the NTC to have a phone unblocked because they have records of stolen phones – the thief will just get caught ;-)
3. The Troll is not sure, but the NTC may have phones unblocked – you probably just need to give proof that the handset is indeed yours.

Ok thats it! Good luck!

thanks in advance ntc. appreciate ur kindness.

Mr. Troll na send ko napo sa ntcncr@yahoo.com. panu ko po kya malalaman kung nablock napo ung phone ko, nbasa ko po kasi after 3days.

Hello Arby, Good Day!

This is good news! The Troll didn’t know that you can email the requirements – no need to visit the NTC physically to file a phone blocking request. In any case, just wait for the email reply – or, you can call the NTC phone theft hotline and do a follow up: (02) 926-7722 / (02) 436-7722!

Good Day! I just want to ask what should i do to block my phone. My sister gave me a phone a month ago and it was snatched last Thursday. The problem is while reading the requirements on your site i noticed that I lack some requirements. I only have the box of the phone with the manual on it plus the IMEI # and the number of my sim card. I don’t have the the purchase receipts. what should i do? Since it was a gift does it qualify me as the owner? please help me on this one. -Rey

Hello Rey

Good Day!

1. Box with IMEI# should do (just explain the circumstance of your situation when you contact the NTC – tell them the phone was a gift, hence no receipt). I’ll email the lost phone affidavit to you later.

2. Accomplish all the requirements, scan, and send to ospac@ntc.gov.ph and ntcncr@yahoo.com, after which – call up the NTC phone theft hotline to follow up with your blocking request: 926-7722 / 436-7722

hi,mr troll.

lost my phone yesterday to a pick pocket modus. my number is still up..and i was even able to talk to the user. he said he just bought the phone different model than mine but with my sim card on it. i can’t believe him. but that’s a possiblity. i would want to completely block/deactivate my number and my phone as well. i have my IMEI number but what if my sim is no longer in the phone. i hope that would be ok since IMEI is unique to the phone. my social networking accounts can be directly accessed through my phone apps and favorites. i have changed Passwords but im still afraid my documents, pics and sensitive infos like address and card numbers would be used in such a way malicious and harmful to me. like tracking my home address and stealing some more.or worse. please let me know what's best to do. i raelly appreciate your help..
...

Hello... er, Desperate,

Good Day! Lets do a run down:

1. The person you talked to is lying. He bought your stolen phone from the thief and was too lazy to buy a new SIM. Stop calling him up. He will only confuse you with lies.

2. As long as you have all the requirements (IMEI included), then you can block the phone, even if it does not have your SIM in it. Just coordinate with the NTC and follow the instructions in this post.

3. If you are on prepaid, blocking your number is a bit hard -its next to impossible try calling up your respective network and inquire about SIM blocking and replacement (you will need to provide some proof though that the number is yours). Best you can do is inform everyone you know that you have a new number and that they should not entertain any SMS/calls from your old one. text EVERYONE, announce this on Facebook and Twitter - informing your friends and family is the best way for you to protect them.

4. Very good that you changed your passwords in ALL your accounts (including email - just to be sure). If you feel that the bastard owner of your SIM is doing some monkey business, best thing to do is to get the help of the police. Just be prepared - cases like this are usually ignored by the authorities.

Ok, hope this helps! Good Luck!

Hi helping troll. My smartphone got stolen last night. I have already changed all my passwords (email, other social accts) and also deleted some app accounts I made. However, the thing is I am more concerned of my prepaid sim card number. I am expecting some calls (for job opportunity) and I want to get my old number back. I’ve read in Gelo’s comment above that “globe can block prepaid numbers but can also give you the same number, ” Well..as one wishes.

Sorry but I got quite confused with that though… did he mean that they can block the STOLEN SIM… but your PREPAID NUMBER can be RE-ACTIVATED through a NEW SIM?
I am a TM user though. I can go to a Globe outlet to inquire about this though, right? Since TM is under Globe Telecomm. hehe. sorry if I’m…. makulit. lol

Oh, and can I also have the pdf? Thanks a lot troll! :)

Hello Cee! Good Day!

1. Yes, you are correct: Globe will block your old SIM, then give you a new SIM that will have your old number. Please go to a Globe store and ask about the procedure for this. They might request for some things from you though – this may be the original packaging of your old TM SIM or even a notarized letter where you state that you are the real owner of the number.

2. Call up the company you applied for and inform them that you have lost your number – provide a temporary one that they can call. Note that it may take some time for Globe to give you a new SIM card with your old number on it.

3. I’ll send over the PDF form later. Please have your phone blocked by the NTC – in doing so, any SIM card that is used on your stolen handset will not function. This is the best way for you to get even with the thief! ;-)

hi, just lost my HTC One X and had it blocked by the NTC,,, my problem is, it’s only the network that can be blocked but not the mobile unit.. so, it’s still possible that the handset can still be used for games, video and photo capturing and my apps there can still be opened and used…coz my cp works even without sim in it (for other things except call & text of course)… isn’t there any way to locate or track the mobile unit even if the sim is postpaid… some says that it is possible to blocked even the handset in phones like iphone, making it completely unusable… is there any truth to that, if yes, can it be done with my handset? One more query, if the network is blocked by the ntc, is it possible for the user to use wifi and connect to fb, coz i havn’t log out from fb on my cp. Thanks!

Hello Tin, good day! Apologies for the late reply. :-D

1. Yes, blocking only prevents the phone from being used in any of the local networks (Globe, Sun, Smart, etc.). If your phone can function without a SIM, then the thief will still be able to use it (but then consider this – a cellphone that cant call or text is really useless, the most that the thief can do is use your handset to surf the web via WIFI or play games).

2. Nope – most mobile phones cannot be tracked or shut down. As with apple devices, there is a possibility – but again, if you want to be able to shut down an iPhone, then there are some steps that have to be done BEFORE the unit gets stolen. Think of it this way – you need to buy an anti theft system for you car before it gets jacked, not after.

3. I hope it isn’t too late: please change all your passwords in all your social network accounts and email addresses. This will prevent the thief from accessing your FB/Twitter/email.

Ok, hope this helps,
Le Troll!

Good day sir Troll,

ive lost my phone (S3) yesterday to pickpockets in LRT. i already have reported my postpaid sim to gobe and have already blocked it. the problem is i cant use the “where’s my droid app” to block the phone and wipe out all the confidential details i have in my phone” , is it because i blocked my sim? what do you suggest my best move to disable the phone? report it to NTC? can you please email me the form so i can have it notarized before i go to NTC. Thank you very much in advance sir. hoping for your response

Norman

Hello Norman! Good Day!

Yes, the MRT/LRT is a very popular hunting ground for pickpockets. The usual M.O. – they strike as you ride the train, at the very moment when people are getting on and off. As with the “Where’s my Droid” question, Apologies – but the Troll is a technologically backward creature when it comes to phone apps :-/

Ill send over the form later – yes, please do have the phone blocked via the NTC – this is the only way you can get even with snatchers and people who knowingly buy stolen handsets (take note though, that you might not need to visit the NTC for this kind of request; one of the Trolls readers said that a simple email will do. Details of this are in the article above).

my cp was stolen too… good thing samsung has a mobile tracker thus i was able to get the numbers of the simcards used in my phone… despite numerous pleading… he refused to return the phone… is there a way to report the sim card number of the thief for it to be blocked? am sure the num is important to him since it is a 0907 num… and accordingly those are old tnt numbers…

Hello Shane,

Good Day!

This Samsung feature is very awesome – getting the numbers of SIM cards used on your stolen phone is very neat. You can report to Smart that one of their TnT subscribers has stolen and is using your phone – problem is, Smart wont believe you and it wont certainly disable the number. You just dont have any proof. The best you can do is report the theft to the police and tell them you have the number of the thief, or if you want a less confrontational approach, you can just have the phone disabled by the NTC.

Or, if your feeling a bit evil, try going on some very dubious online forums and pretend to be someone of dubious morals and then give out the number of the thief. This should give the guy a very interesting set of problems to deal with ;-)

Good luck!

Can I please have a PDF copy of the form please? And is it really possible to not go to Quezon anymore to send all forms to their office? Thanks a lot!

Hello Nelfred,

2. Yup yup! I believe so: just try contacting our friends in the NTC lost phone support team (OSPAC) and ask about it, the Troll had a reader who successfully blocked his phone by simply emailing the required documents to the NTC.

Hello Julian,

Bad news – most likely you will never see your phone ever again – tracking it is next to impossible unless you’ve pre-installed tracking apps prior to the loss. There might be a Lumia fail safe feature for things like this, but the troll isn’t aware of it. Best bet is just to have it blocked.

Hi Alvin,

Good Day!

The Troll hates to be the bringer of bad news here – but there really is a very very slim chance that you will ever find your phone. Best you can do is have it disabled. The number of the NTC’s lost phone assistance team is in the article above (OSPAC) – kindly call them up and see how you can get your phone killed. :-/

Also, the Troll is not familiar with Plan B – if no email arrives, expect that the thief has already disabled this app or he may have done a factory reset which wipes out everything on your phone.

Hello Bryan,

The Troll got a similar questions in the past – yes, it is possible to have your SIM blocked, but you need to provide proof (like the original SIM casing/jacket from when you bought the SIM card). Contact your telco to learn more about this. In the meantime, kindly go on your Face Book and Twitter account and announce to all your friends and family that your phone was stolen and that they should not text it anymore, nor should they entertain any texts or calls from your old number.

Hello sir!

Kinda relieving to see your site. My Nokia Lumia 800 was stolen like a few hours ago. It’s under postpaid plan by Globe and the hardest part is that I just got it 3 months ago. I immediately had my sim blocked by callling Globe’s customer service and also they told me that they can even block my phone if only I have the IMEI. So then I called someone back in my house to dictate to me the number then went ahead to Globe’s office. I was puzzled then because now, Globe people said that they can only block the sim but not the phone and even left their office angry because of false information the guy I talked to over the phone. I was not satisfied to the person I’ve talked to so I, again, called customer service using my reference number and gave them my IMEI then said they processed it and just waiting a few minutes then “viola” he said my phone is blocked!

Now my question is, should I still have to go to NTC or should I trust Globe Customer Serv Rep that having my phone blocked has already been taken cared of? Any thoughts?

Hello Noi,

Good Day! Hmmm – this is strange. This may have happened:

1. Globe’s hotline has the capability of blocking a phone, which is why they asked for the IMEI when you called.
2. Globe stores cant have phones blocked. They don’t have access to the system in Globe the same way the hotline does.
3. Which is why when you called up the hotline again, they promptly accommodated your request.

But just to be safe, call up Globe again. Ask about “how” they blocked your phone – the Troll has a hunch – they may have blocked you phone over the Globe network, but if a Smart or Sun SIM card is used, then the Phone may function perfectly. In any case, just to be doubly sure, and to really get even with the thief or with people who knowingly buy stolen phones, just have the NTC block your handset (I’ll send the NTC blocking form to your email address later).

Also, as the Troll was taking its morning shit – it read a Globe ad: apparently, Globe now offers “insurance” for situations such as yours. Try to inquire about this as well when you call.

Goof luck!

Your reply will be much appreciated. Thanks! :)

Hello Mec,

Good Day! First of all, the Troll hopes that you are fine – and yes, please have your phone blocked so we can get even with the mugger or with people who knowingly buy stolen handsets. I’ll send over the form once i get back to my laptop, as for the NTC numbers, kindly try: 921-3251 or 926-7722

Also, check out this link: http://telcotroll.com/?p=2414 (Its an article the Troll wrote for what to do when you lose a smartphone – you really cant do anything with the bad guy using your number, but you can warn everyone you know through FB, twitter and text)

Good luck and keep safe!
le Troll

Thanks troll for the immediate reply. I called globe customer service hotline a while ago and i asked if i can still buy a prepaid sim with the same number, and fortunately i could avail the sim replacement with number retention. But my concern is, if i’ll file a blocking request to NTC, will my number be blocked as well since I will avail the sim replacement with number retention from globe? Or will NTC block the handset alone? By the way, i am fine and still breathing. I was scared when a knife was pointed in my face, without second thoughts, i gave my phone rather than get hurt and lose my life fighting for my phone.

Hello Mec,

First off – your instincts were completely correct: when faced with a mugger with a knife or gun, DO NOT ARGUE – just give everything that the bad guy wants, phones, wallet, jewelry. at all times, our life is worth more than our material possessions. Good work Mec and the Troll is really glad that you are fine! :-)

Secondly, unfortunately, the NTC blocking procedure only kills the handset. It does not kill the SIM. Once you get your SIM replacement, your old SIM carrying your old number will be disabled.

Again, good work!
Le Troll!

i also did the top 5 things. I immediately changed all my social networks password including my emails. I even un-sync my facebook account in my phone. I also warned everyone I know because my contact number is still active until now. Thanks troll for the useful information! I’m planning to file the blocking request as soon as possible. :)

Hello Wilfred,

Good Day!

Truth be told, the same thing happened to my brother – he was listening to his iPOD when it suddenly died while he was trying to get on a bus – good thing he quickly grabbed his pocket and caught the hand of the “mandurukot”. He then started arguing with the man and at some point, the bus conductor went down on the road and they ganged up on the piece of shit. At one point, someone threw a water bottle on the head of the bastard who in turn ran away. If i were to make a guess, you lost your phone while you were going up/down the bus/jeep – this is usually the best time for a thief to strike, when your body is going through quick movement and your mind is focused at doing a task as safely as possible.

In any case:

1. Follow the instructions on the article above!
2. When your phone is blocked, any SIM card from Globe/Sun/Smart will not work on it. Only a very few phone hackers can undo the lock.

Good Luck!

Good evening!

My phone was lost this morning. And true enough, I was going up on a bus that time ng may biglang sumiksik saken na grupo ng mga lalake, and voila! Wala na ang handset ko. Kakabili ko lang last Dec nun sa Sony and they told me na mattrack lang nila yun kung naka-ON ang wireless data (and sad to say, deactivated sya). I want it blocked ASAP.

Thank you so much!

Hello Mar,

Good Day! – YES, what happened to you seems to be the most common way for a group of thieves to steal phones: as you leave the bus, they block your way, then someone behind you proceeds to pick you pocket or bag. Everyone who is reading this take note: when alighting form the bus, make sure your wallet and phone is in an area that cannot be easily reached by hand (i.e. deep inside your bag, under stuff like books and toiletries).

PLEASE have your phone blocked so we can get even!

Hello Aira,

First of all, the Troll would like to commend you for actually making a move to have your handset blocked! This is the most effective way that we can use to get even with thieves and with people who knowingly buy stolen handsets!

Secondly, just get your NTC lost phone form and look for a “Notary Public” – you will usually see these guys near universities or near the municipal/city hall in which you live in. Notarization shouldn’t cost you more than a P500.00 pesos – if the Troll remembers right, the last time it got something notarized, it only cost P150.00.

Good Day! Yup, its fast becoming a modus-operandi of thieves: the “Siksik Dukot” commonly done in the bus. Anyway – click the link in the article to get the NTC form then have it notarized. As for your other question, yes – an NTC blocked phone can be unblocked, but only by experienced phone hackers. The Troll can give more details on this, but its better that it doesn’t. ;-)

Good Luck!

Hi there. Is there any way that Ntc can help me to block a number so that the person cannot call me? Some absurd people have been giving me bluff calls and I need a remedy. I don’t have any app like rejectlist on my iPhone. Please help!!! Thanks.

Hello Shrijana – Visit this link: https://ntc.gov.ph/publicassistance_requestforunblocking.php
(Just fill up the form and NTC should be able to help you with your problem)

Hi there

My phone just got stolen last night and after reading your article, i really want to block my phone through NTC.

So let me get this right, we do not have to go all the way to NTC, we can just email them our scanned requirements?
Thank you so much.

Good day and thank you for the article.

Hi again,

sorry for having two comments in a row, but well just making sure, all I need to submit to NTC is a 1) notarized affidavit, 2) two ids, and well i no longer have my official receipt but i have the original box of my iphone 4 with the barcode sticker containing the part no, serial no, and IMEI of my iphone. So how do i submit the last requirement, do i just send the NTC a scan of the phone’s barcode sticker found in the box? thank you very much!

Hello Jules,

Good Day! Yes, according to one of the Trolls readers, no need to go to the NTC, just scan the requirements and send over by email – best if you can call the NTC up to get more info on this.

As for the requirements, please check the article – its all listed there ;-) and yes – a scan of the side of the box where the bar code sticker is will probably do – but as mentioned, best if you confirm it with the NTC when you call.

Good Luck!

Hi Troll,

Gud day! I lost my iPhone last week and I am on the process of blocking it with the NTC. I have installed find my iPhone on the device and I already blocked it, I’m thinking to disable the code for find my iphone and let him used it, but blocked the phone thru NTC. So in that way he could only use the phone for surfing and in the process I could locate my phone thru that app. Here’s a couple of questions:

1. Do you think it is a good idea?
2. and If I decide to block the phone by NTC is there a way I could I could unblocked it once I recovered it?

Thanks. Nice site. You gave a glaring hope for lost souls with lost phone like me. :) God Bless…

Hello Ahhyann,

Good Day too!

OK – just to be clear:

1. You used an application to disable your stolen iPhone.
2. You want to use this same app to cancel the disabled status of your phone so the thief can still use it for mobile internet, thus allowing you to track your handset.
3. Then you want to have the NTC block your phone.

Ahhyann – this is a bad idea, you might get hurt looking for the thief. Also, ALL phone tracking systems/apps have a radius of around a hundred meters – meaning you will only get to know where your phone is in a general area – you wont know precisely where it is (i.e. which house or which person has it). Better to have your phone blocked by the NTC instead. ;-)

Good Luck!

just asking..

1. Disabling your device via the NTC/telcos only makes it unusable for data/voice/SMS services.
2. The thief can still use your phone for other activities such as word processing and games.
3. gagana parin pu ba ang wifi? i mean hindi nadidisable wifi connection or mac address?

Hello Marie,

Good Day!

1. Disabling a phone via the NTC will render any local SIM cards from working on the phone – hence no data/voice/SMS.
2. The Troll is nada sure if a phone can start-up if there is no SIM card attached; you can experiment on this – please share the results if you do! ;-)
3. Yup – the Troll is not sure if the WiFi will work – the results of the experiment in item 2 will determine this though.

Hello Troll,

I dropped my blackberry pearl phone yesterday sa may atm machines and it was only a matter of minute when i discovered that i lost it so i went back to the area right away and its gone…and i was still hoping that when i call my phone someone will answer and have the heart to return it but sadly…it rang thrice then its dead…i guess when you drop something these days you wont expect someone to call you that you drop something especially if its a phone or wallet…but if its a hanky people might call you “hey u drop dropped your hanky….what a shame….ilan nalang kaya honest ngayon…

Anyway, do you think I can still have it blocked after 3 months prior date of loss kasi wala sakin yung proof of ownership i can get it from home after 3 months pa when i go on break. pwedeko pa ba mapa block yun?

Thanks alot….your post is an enlightenment.

Hello Armi!

Good Day! Yes – the phone can be blocked even after three or more months after the theft. Thank you for the kind words! :-)

Hi Troll,

Just curious, have you heard any NTC blocked phone which was unblock by local phone shop/s (hackers)?

Thanks,

Hello Eric (and everyone who are curious on the question above),

This will be the last time the Troll tackles this subject – YES, an NTC blocked phone can be reversed/unblocked by a select few phone hackers and there is a possibility that a phone shop somewhere can do this. Good thing is – it takes a lot of skill and common sense to pull off and it is really good that our garden variety thieves are not this smart. ;-)

Hope this clarifies things!

I lost my Samsung Galaxy Kanina while on the BUS and parehong pareho sa mga article written down this January 2013.

Salamat!

thanks i appreciate any reply and comments

Hello Joanna,

Good Day!

Hmmm – There is a very little chance that you will be able to track the thief of your phone. Asking the NTC to help out is also very slim (and seriously, who ever took your phone has already sold it or is not stupid enough to personally use it in front of you or anyone you know) . Really, the best you can do is have the phone blocked and be more careful of your things.

Hope this helps!

Hi Troll,

Can I have a copy of the required forms? My Note 2 was stolen in an FX last night.
Had I visited your site earlier, I would have installed a tracking device on my phone. I was still trying to look for ways or apps that I can use to track my phone. But since I haven’t seen anything useful, I now want to have it blocked by NTC.
Thanks and appreciate your help!

Hello Marvin,

Good Day! There is a link in my post that you can click to download the NTC lost phone form ;-)

And yes – when you get your next phone, please download a security app (if you can, please get the premium ones – it will only cost you a few dollars)

Goodafternoon, I lost my phone but what I really care about is recovering my contacts, Is there a way that I can recover all my contacts even if the sim card is totally gone? Please help me, I really need all those information. Thanks in advance.

Hello Joseph,

Good Day!

Bad news bro. Most likely your contacts are gone forever: if you saved your address book in your SIM, then whoever found your phone most likely ditched your SIM already – if its in your phone – then whoever has your phone already did a factory reset or completely erased your contacts list. If you are getting a new phone, get Android and sync your contacts to gmail so that next time you need to retrieve your numbers, its will be as easy as doing a sync-back to the phone. ;-)

Hello CF, Good Day! The link to get the form works fine, the Troll just tested it. The requirements are listed in the post above. It also says above that yes, you can email the requirements instead of visiting the NTC; try calling them up to get more info: 926-7722, 436-7722 or 0919-299-9999 (its a bit hard to get through but please keep trying – as with other government agencies, its a bit hard to reach anyone by phone. Hi, my galaxy note was stolen in baguio city last weekends. I will try to block it by asking help to NTC

1st – ntc website forms are working fine except for the “request for blocking” form. When clicked, it downloads the “text spam report”
2nd. – do NTC handle cases for phones bought abroad?

Thanks

Hello Glenn,

Good Day!

1. Are you trolling the Troll? It checked the link in the article, as well as the download link in the NTC page – twice. Everything is working fine, the Troll got the lost phone affidavit. :-/

2. Yes, even phones brought abroad can be blocked by the NTC (once done, no SIM card from Globe, Smart or Sun will work on the handset)

Hope this helps! Good Luck!

I recently lost my Samsung Note through a notorious modus operandi. Aside from filing the usual NTC request for IMEI blocking, I called up the Samsung Philippines Call Center and gave them my IMEI and S/N numbers and they sent an email alert to their service centers not to serve or confiscate any phone bearing the said digits. This was advised to me by a good neighbor who used to work for Samsung as a Technician. Apparently, to confirm what The Troll said here, there aren’t too many geeks who can change an IMEI around, thus disabling the “fencer’s” chance of using your hard earned phone. Good luck na lang sa mga bibili ng nakaw hehehe.

As they said, “Don’t get back, get even!”

Hello Chris!

This is precisely the attitude that everyone should have: “Don’t get back, get even!”. Also, thank you so much for giving us here a new weapon to use against thieves: when a phone is stolen, call up the local call center of the manufacturer (the Troll is sure that apart from Samsung, Apple and Nokia also have local tech support) – and inform them of the IMEI and serial number of the stolen handset so that the thief cannot have the phone fixed through legal means!

Thank you Chris and have a nice day!

Hello Shiel, Good Day! Its ok if you don’t have a receipt – the box with the IMEI should do (best if you can take a picture of the box and add this as part of the documentation that you will submit to the NTC); click the link on the post to get the NTC lost/stolen phone form. Good Luck! -Albert

Hello Albert, good day! If you lost your phone in another land, there is a very good chance that you can report it to the respective telco regulator of your host country – kinda like their version of the NTC, although please check first as not all governments have a phone blocking process in place. Hi Trolley,

Bakit hanggang ngayon hindi kayang itrace ng NTC or the networks yung whereabouts ng stolen phone based on the IMEI? Sana me ganong feature ung IMEI dahil unique number din lang naman sya ng phone, at year 2013 na rin naman.

Of course, this goes without saying nanakawan din ako recently. Hindi pala nakaactivate ung Avast Theft Aware ko, so hindi rin gumana.

Salamat sa post mo and for taking time to reply to everyone.

Hello Owen!

Good Day and thanks for the kind words! :-)

The Troll agrees with you – the NTC or the telcos should begin looking at technologies that will allow them to actually track stolen handsets via an IMEI# since each handset has a number series that is unique in the world! Hopefully, this happens within our lifetime, and the Troll is sure that when the day comes, we will finally see the end of phone theft!

Can you tell us more about this “Avast Theft Aware”; is this some sort of app that people can download?

Hello Saxia,

Good Day!

Yup – this has been a recurring comment from people who try to contact OSPAC: its really hard to get through. Truth be told, this is something that really really really annoys the Troll – how hard can it be for the NTC to buy a few call center seats so that it can attend to callers like you on a problem that is very prevalent in the Philippines: phone theft. Oh well. In any case, working hours for a local government agency would be 10-12noon and 2-4PM, Monday to Friday. You can also try their cell number at: 0919-299-9999 or you can try shooting an email to: ospac@ntc.gov.ph or ntcncr@yahoo.com

Very good that you had your phone blocked! Truth be told, the guy who bought your stolen phone is wondering right now why his handset suddenly doesn’t want to work! don’t get mad, get even! ;-)

As for your question, blocked phones will reject any local SIM card (Globe, Smart and Sun) and most phones will not start up if the SIM cannot engage. Good work again for having your phone blocked, keep safe always (there’s a new modus going around where phone thieves ride buses and gang up on their victim).

Hi Troll!

Is there a way to verify if the phone you reported to NTC has been blocked. I mean when you do a follow-up to them its easy for them to say that your request has been completed, but how can we verify it really happens. Is there anything outside NTC domain that ordinary people can check this?

Thanks in advance and great job here helping unfortunate mobile phone users.

Hello Leo, The Troll has struggled with that very same question: “Are we sure that the NTC actually did its job?” – Well, we wont, since the only person who will know is either the thief or the one who bought the phone from the thief. The Troll also considered filling a “fake” blocking request with the NTC to verify things – but then the NTC lost phone affidavit is notarized so technically, if the Troll did this, it would be breaking the law.

Best thing we can do is trust the NTC. :-)

Thanks for the kind parting words, and have a nice day! -Joseph

Hello Troll! Na-snatch phone ko kahapon and reported it immediately at Globe. Since I’m on postpaid, the Globe Agent I’ve talked to said that they can block my phone (Globe unit/Globe locked).
Question 1: Magagamit pa ba nila yung unit ko sa ibang network (Smart/Sun)?
Question 2: Do I still have to report it to NTC? Or reporting it to Globe is enough?

Hello Ochie,

Good Day!

Unfortunately, the Troll does not have all the answers :-D Please check with your Globe agent on your question above, although, hopefully, Globe reports the loss to the NTC – which will then initiate a blocking order to Smart and Sun for your handset. If not, then it will be best if you go though the blocking process to make sure your stolen phone can never be used again. ;-)

Good day troll

I was planning to buy a second hand phone in sulit.com. and i was kinda worried bka sakaling after our deal ay ipa-block nya ung unit na benta nya sakin sa ntc using its imei number at i-declare nya na lost unit po un. kung sakali po ba may paraan ba para ma-counter ung gagawin nya. i mean pra di nya magawa ung pag block. or kung wala po at napa block na nya. eh,ung tipong mapapa unblock ko sya. kase po bka magbigay sya ng fake identity or bka panibagong modus to pra makakuha ng pera sa ibang tao.

Hi Josephine! Good Day! Follow these tips:

1. When buying from Sulit/Ebay/Etc. look for the trust rank of the seller – only buy from those who have positive comments or those who have good rank (in eBay they are called “Power Sellers” – not sure what term Sulit uses for their merchants that can be trusted).

2. If the price for the phone is too good to be true, then please walk away from the offer. Meaning if everyone is selling an iPhone 4S at P20K, and one dealer is selling at P15K then be very cautious or better yet, just ignore the post.

3. And finally, if you want to really protect yourself, when you buy a second hand phone online, also ask for the original receipt, the box and if possible, a deed of sale from the seller. If the phone gets blocked – you can just contact the NTC, present your proof of ownership, and they should be able to “un-block” your phone.

Hope this helps and happy hunting!
-Phil

Hello Phil. Good Day.

1. I think the phone’s price is just fair enough. I am not sure about the sellers rank. They must be a new seller in town. Im reffering to the one I already chose. The phones price in the market (brand new) is P14,500. and the are selling it at P9.5K . I think it is just fair enough. I am just concern about the thing that they gonna block the phone after our deal is done. Do you think there is a way i could get through of these? I mean if i could still counter-act what will they do. Or maybe i could still unblock it. About the box and the receipt we both agreed that they gonna give me that to the purpose of having the warranty. Because the unit itself is still under warranty so i could use it in the future. About the deed of sale i dont think i could have that. But do you think the box and the official receipt is enough? How can i refer to the NTC about this matter if it is happened? Do you think the box and receipt is enough for proof of ownership that i bought it second hand? thank you for your answer :) god bless :)

Hello Josephine! The Troll really cant give a straight answer to your question – “what if they block your phone after you buy it”; best if you can call up the NTC to inquire but it might be hard to get a reply from them since what your concerned about has not happened yet. Again, please buy from sellers who have good buyer feedback or have a good ranking with Sulit or eBay – it does not matter if its a good price, what matters is if you can trust the guy selling – more so if the handset will be shipped to you. Hope this helps! -Francis

Ok then. Thanks for all the replies :) Much appreciated . It will be a big help getting an advice from you guys. :) This site is very useful . Keep it up and God Bless to all of you guys. :) Anyway lets just pray for the good deal. Hehe. The handset is not for shipping. We will be doing Meet ups and Make the deal personally hand-to-hand. And i will be getting the box and the official receipt. I just hope things will be okay .

Hi! My S3 got stolen last March 27, 2013 in Cubao. The phone was actually a gift to me from my aunt from the U.S . It is a Galaxy S3 that is unlocked from any carrier. I still got the box and the receipt. My question is: would NTC be able to block it even though it was from the U.S? I am planning to block it so the would be buyer would not be able to use it as he expected. Thanks in advance!

Hello Julius, good day! Yup, the NTC should be able to block your phone – once done, any SIM card from Globe, Smart and Sun wont work on it. Julius, its really hard to contact the NTC to file a request – please be patient and please follow through – make this your motivation: your phone is probably already owned by a person who bought it knowing that it was stolen, and imagine his/her surprise when one day, the phone just suddenly stops working. this would be your best way to get even! Please help. I’m still on the stage of trauma. sana wag lang po nila kalkalin ung mga files, pictures and videos.

Hello Sheng,

Good Day! First of all – the Troll is glad that you are safe and sound. You mention that your phone go stolen in the bus, well – its really a new modus operandi of snatchers – they gang up on you while one picks your bag/pocket. Anyway, if a phone is blocked, any local SIM card that is inserted to it wont work – so the thief will most likely not have access to your personal files. The problem is that it takes a while for Globe to notify the NTC and for the NTC to inform Smart and Sun to block your IMEI. Hi troll. I felt relieved when I read this site. AT least there is hope to sabotage the plan of the thieves. My Iphone5 was snatched last Sunday along Ayala Edsa. And just like everybody else, distraction ang tactic ng mga ito. Please email me the PDF file and God Bless you for being so diligent and patient in answering all our queries. Thank you in advance.

Hello Christine, Good Day! The Troll is saddened by the loss of your phone, more so that the theft happened along Ayala Edsa which has one of the highest concentration of security guards in Metro Manila, which is supposed to be the Central Business District of the Philippines – in short, that area should be relatively safe for people. In any case, at least you did not get hurt. As for the form, there is a link in the post that you can click in order to download the NTC PDF for lost/stolen handsets. Keep safe! -Frank

Hi everyone… i also lost my galaxy note 2 last week. A guy might have seen me using my phone so he followed me inside the bus. He sat beside me then after a while he told me that there’s something that smells bad in my shoulder. It was fault because I listened to him. I looked at my shoulder and there’s his spit. He even tried to help me… told me there’s also something in my hair. I was not alert that time. Then the guy got off the bus. When I looked for my cp inside my bag, that’s when I realized what had happened. Take note, mukhang disente yung guy. Nakabarong pa nga eh. Nakakalungkot lang isipin na may mga taong walang konsensiya… salot sa lipunan. I learned my lesson.

Avccording to globe, blocked na daw yung phone at di rin pwede gamitin kahit smart or sun or any other network. No need na rin daw for me to go to NTC. Wish ko lang totoo to para di magamit pa ang cp ko. ok fine gamitin niya sa laro at wi-fi pero cp naman yun, walang kwenta kung di rin magamit sa call at txt. Additional info… Erjohn & Almark yung bus, bound to Cavite.

or any other ways po

Hi Rogelio, Good Day! The link you provided is for telco related complaints (i.e. nakawload, etc.). If you want to file a blocking request, the procedure/instructions are in the post above. Good luck! -Sam

Hi troll,

Pwede po bang pasend ng copy ng affidavit?I click the link na nakalagay sa site na to for that kaya lang account suspended daw. Anyway, nawala kasi yung phone ng kapatid ko and gusto kong ipa-block. Nasa office yung box nung phone(I hope nandun yung imei, hindi ko kasi naisave e ). Questions po, is it possible na malaman yung last cell phone number na ginamit using that phone?or pwede po ba na ma-locate yun? Thanks po sa help!

Hi Nathan – please check again – the NTC download site for the stolen handset form is fine. Try using Internet Explorer (Chrome, Firefox might not be compatible with the site). For your next questions – No – its not possible to know what numbers were used on your phone after it got stolen, nor is it possible to locate it anymore. Good luck! Ryan

is it posible na blocked nung phone ko ng ntc pero hngang naun nkokontak ku pdn ung no. ko?

Hello Melissa, if your on postpaid, then no. But unfortunately, for prepaid, the one who got your SIM may continue to load it with credits and use your account. if you want your number terminated as well, call up your telco or visit its major stores and inquire – note that they wont terminate the number if you cant show proof that it is yours. Good luck! -Rolly

Hi troll, can i still retrieve my number even if it is still a prepaid sun cellular sim??
i really need and love that number, what should i do?
If sun cellular can retrieve it then i would be so much happy!!

Hello John,

This is possible with Globe and Smart – it should also be possible with Sun – just call up the hot line or visit a major Sun store in the mall to inquire.Take note though: you may need to provide some proof that the number is yours, like the original SIM card case.

Good luck!

Hi Troll,

Just saw this site after my iphone was snatched the other night. Wish I have seen this beforehand. Anyway seems like the NTC website is down (been trying since the other day) so will just try to get a form somewhere. Would appreciate if you have a pdf on hand though :-)

In another matter, bought a new phone and would like to register it through the 682 SMS system. Just to like to ask what the PIN is – is this the PIN that comes with the SIM card or is this a random password one can assign.

Appreciate response.

Thanks!

Greetings Eric! Yup, for the love of reliability, the website of the NTC is indeed down. Sigh. Ill send the form over once i get to my computer. As for the PIN, its a random password that you can assign – but please write it down somewhere so you wont forget. ;-) Good Luck! -Karl

Hi Troll /Karl

Appreciate the reply. Would wait for your email of the form. Tried registering new phone to 682 but sadly the text won’t push through. Is this system down as well?

Hi Eric, 682 was working fine up to about a year ago. It might be down already – like the NTC website. Sigh. -Karl

hi Troll,
My phone has been snatched earlier….,may pin code po yun pag ina.unlock at nka.phone lock din.,may possibility pa bang magagamit nila yun? and can i ask a copy of the form para mapa.block ko yung phone ko? di ko kc ma.open yung ntc site.,.nag.eerror lge..,
One thing more.,pa’no ko po ire.retrieve yung # ko? im a smart user.,ano po kaya mga requirements.,
Thanks po and Godbless

Greetings Jin Jin! Ok – one by one: The Troll is not sure if a phone with a PIN lock can be cracked by a phone hacker in Greenhills – most likely yes. Secondly – yes – the entire NTC site is down, hence the link in the post above wont connect. Im on the road at the moment, ill send over the form later – when i get to my computer. As for your number – just go to your telcos store or call its hotline – check on the process for getting a new SIM card with your old number (the Troll is just not sure as to what the requirements are – probably an affidavit of loss and maybe the SIM card case). Good luck! -Vincent

Hi Troll, so i lost my iphone 4s on the date of my bday which sucks so hard. i cried for day after that.hehe 3 days after it we i reported it in NTC’s office here in Cavite, i was wondering what will happen to my phone if it was blocked will it be total useless? and how? thanks.

Greetings Wes! The Troll grieves with you on the loss of your phone, more so that the loss happened on your birthday. In any case, well, these things happen – one day you will be able to get another handset that is just as awesome. Just be patient and make do with what you have. ;-) Now for your question: when the NTC blocks a phone, any local SIM card that is inserted into it wont work as the telcos will check the phones IMEI when the SIM connects to its network – if the IMEI is on the blacklist, then the telcos will refuse the connection. But this does not mean that the phone will be totally useless. Smartphones are essentially mini computers – without a SIM card, the phone can still be used to surf the net (WiFi), play games, read files – even create documents. I know that this sort of sucks – but there is still a real benefit – the thief or the person who knowingly bought the stolen phone wont be able to sell it at good value. Hope this helps! -Arthur

Hi, tnx i appreciate the reply, i have another question, what if they already inserted a sim before the NTC blocked it
will it still be blocked? and can they unblock it? thanks

Hi Wes – Yup, it will still be blocked. Remember, ANY SIM card will not work because the IMEI has been blacklisted – and the IMEI is connected to the handset and not to the SIM. Yes, the thief can have the phone unblocked, but only an experienced phone hacker can do it. Hope this helps. -Arthur

sir good day may problema po ako, yung isang phone ko po na nabili months ago sa mall block listed na ngayon kay globe, maari po kayang nakaw ito? Wala po ba paraan para maunblock sayang po ang pera ko na naipambili dito eh =(

Marvin – you bought a stolen phone that the original owner had requested the NTC to block. It wont work on Globe, Sun or Smart. Please don’t buy again from dubious sellers, the Troll suggests that you go back to where you purchased the phone and ask for a refund, but it is very likely that you wont get one. -Thomas

Hi my phone is stolen and got lost somewhere while am travelling in the province. I have the copy of the IMEI but my problem is I dont have with me receipt, box or anything to prove that this is mine. I dont usually keep them. I am a frequent traveler so basically, I dont keep things which I always dont use. Good thing i activated the feature of the phone that when it get stollen and replaced it with new sim card, it will automatically send message to my other mobile number with a warning that the phone might be stolen including its IMEI number. Will the NTC honor just a IMEI number together with the signed form? Need your advise on this. Many thanks.

Hello John, hmmm… Best if you can call the NTC direct to get advice on the problem – just be patient with the numbers (also, try to send an email to them – try the Yahoo one though as it is monitored more). Since the NTC form for lost/stolen phones will be notarized, maybe they can accept this as adequate proof of ownership. Good luck! Albert

thanks for the reply, can i also ask pdf copy of the form, will try my luck sending it to NTC.

For the love of fuck, the NTC site is still down. What, they forgot to pay their hosting fees? Oh well. Hi John, I’m away from my laptop at the moment – I’ll try to send it over tomorrow. -TrollBukol

Hi Troll, Read a lot from other peoples comment and your reply and I would also wish to ask that PDF form from NTC cause my sister’s phone got stolen thanks. I hope there’s an app out there that could track the phones exact location so I could personally get revenge on who ever did this to her.

Hello Wong, Greetings! Unfortunately, there is no app in the world that can track a phone; it simply does not exist. The Troll is sorry for your sister, lets just be happy that she didn’t get hurt. :-) The Troll will send over the form tomorrow. Good luck -Ben

Hi, I lost my samsung S3 yesterday, Is it possible to locate my phone? I might go to NTC to report it and have it blocked. Actually I was trying to locate it through Samsung Dive but unfortunately I can access the site. Also, can you send me the PDF form? Thank you.

Hello Ana, Greetings! First of all – it is next to impossible to locate your phone. There is no app in the world that can facilitate this, even the telcos will be hard put to locate handsets as they can only triangulate on a large area scale (meaning, they can say that the phone is within the Taguig area, but not specifically where). The Troll will send over the form tomorrow, since the NTC site is down, much to the Troll’s embarrassment. Good luck! -Roy

Hi. i just have a big question. i lost my phone yesterday in a convenient store and was seen by the cashier; however, a person after us claimed the phone. The phone has the phone lock on and the sim was requested to be blocked already. i cannot get through to ntc’s all possible contact numbers foun on different sites for the blocking of the phone. i have all my important details on the phone memory like my log ins and passwords. does anyone know if the phone will be automatically reset if a technician would remove the phone lock? can someone give me the contact number of ntc pls… thank you.

Hello Kate, greetings! Yup – the NTC is quite famous for having very unreliable phone services, which is odd, since it is tasked to protect phone related services in our behalf. Anyway, try contacting them via email. There are two, but use the Yahoo one as it is more reliable. Secondly, please reset all your passwords in all your accounts. Do this now. The Troll is not kidding: DO THIS NOW. And yes, even if you have a phone lock code, a handset hacker will still be able to unlock your phone – the troll is just not sure if the data inside the phone will be wipped in the process. Good luck! -PJ

Hi, I am not quite sure if my phone is blocked or not. I am using this site to check it but it says my phone is clean, not lost or stolen. http://sndeep.info/en. Data (Edge or 3G) is totally working but the call and text is not. There is Operator logo (smart/globe) but no bar signal. Please help me confirm if my handset is blocked or not. My phone is from Saudi and I am using it here in the Philippines for almost 2 years now without any problem. Maraming salamat sa forum sa to… –Roman

Hello Roman, Greetings! First things first: did you file a blocking request with the NTC already? -Joe

Ho Joe, Hindi ako nagrequest to block the phone. I am still using it kasi. May signal problem kaya gusto ko malaman kung blocked ba ang status ng IMEI ko sa NTC. I am trying to isolate kung blocked ba sya o may hardware issue lang.. :( Thanks, Roman

Hi Roman, Greetings! If the NTC has blocked your phone, then no SIM card from Globe and Smart+Sun will work on it. Its as simple as that. So most likely, you have a hardware problem. Hope this helps! -Joe

Huhu, still hoping marecover ko ulit yung phone ko. Are there any devices na nkkpag track ng phone ^_^ Thanks! :)

I mean upon submitting requirements for phone blocking to NTC, puede bang ung IMEI na lang muna and ID, puedeng wala munang Affidavit of Loss? Thanks

Hello Chel, greetings! The Troll is sorry for your loss – and yes, if you access your email and other social network accounts using your handset, then it would be very very good that you changed all your passwords to them already ;0) In any case – please submit all the requirements needed by the NTC as much as you can. Also, please stop entertaining the thought that you can still track your phone – this is next to impossible. Good luck! -Troll Bukol!

Hi Troll, sad to say na hold-up ako last Tues (June 4) along pasong tamo inside a PRC bound jeep. Had to give up my iphone 4s cause tinutukan ako ng balisong sa tagiliran ko. Already reported to Globe that my mobile is stolen. Also reported it sa precinct. A concerned friend told me that pag tinatawagan daw yung line ko, ringing pa rin. So that means the motherf* is using my phone and di man lang pinatay! Can I have a copy of the pdf file of the NTC form? Ayokong magamit pa nya yung phone ko.

And people please stop using your mobile phones pag nasa jeep! Yung lalaki sa tapat ko yung main target nila kasi nag c-cp sya so pag sakay pa lang nila, don natatutok yung balisong. Nadamay pa ko! Argh!

Sometimes kahit nag iingat ka pero yung mga kasama mo sa jeep pabaya, malas lang talaga.

Thank you Troll for this post. It really is helpful and makes us (lalo na yung mga nanakawan or hold-up) feel empowered and that we can do something.

Hi Kwin! Greetings! The Troll always says this when these things happen: thank God you are alive and well! This is the big blessing that you have because in absolutely all instances – we should never put our lives in danger for material objects. Its really good that you did not argue with the holdup men, handing them your phone without question was a very good decision. Its just unfortunate that their target was the careless passenger that you rode with – you are right: even if we know that its a no-no to use cellphones while commuting, well, there are still people out there who are careless about these things. Anyway – the Troll will send over the form tomorrow – and yes, instead of getting mad, get even! Good luck! -Anthony

hi! thanks for your informative post.. my 3 month old iphone 5 got stolen at our salon last june 4. i immediately called globe to block my sim and the unit itself.. i gave them my imei and they told me that my phone will be useless and will not open even if the thief will charge it for a long time. i asked them if cellphone repair shops can unlock my phone but they said no repair shop can do that so the phone is really useless.. but i doubt it cause i see a lot of shops offering imei unlocking.. what do you think? should i still report it to ntc? i really want it to be useless to that thief! all i can say is ingat lagi kasi nagpapanggap na customer ang magnanakaw.. kitang kita sa cctv ang pagtakbo nya at pagsakay ng trike.. nahanap namin ang trike na nagsakay, pero sa harisson edsa sya nagpahatid.. it’s not a residential place kaya di na talaga namin mahanap.. thank you so much!

Hello Jessica, thank you for sharing your experience here! Yes, most thieves really find ingenious ways to steal stuff, and they seem to target places where we feel most safe, in your case, inside a salon. Anyway, no need anymore to have the NTC block your phone – Globe already made this request with them in your behalf. As for the IMEI unblocking, only a very few people can do this – so not to worry so much, although, the Troll will see if it can launch an initiative targeting the NTC and the media to address phone repair people who provide this service, given that it is very illegal and it really promotes theft. Good luck and keep safe! -Jack

Hi! just want to share my experienced being hold up! my samsung s3 has been stolen last june 4, Tuesday along pasong tamo st., makati city inside the jeep. a holdaper came in and just shown me a double bladed balisong and just got my phone in an instant! still in trauma but my co-workers told me to call NTC since it is brandnew phone. So, I search for NTC contact because its official website is down for no reason. Thank God i got a number and called them. As per the agent who answered, she gave all the requirements for email sender because i can afford to go in person to their quezon city head office. Requirements including the scan copy of affidavit of loss, valid ids and my serial no for IMEI.

Yesterday all requirements are forwarded to ntcospac@yahoo.com and the next day Ive got an email from Mr. Vic Gusto replying on my request and will have to call again after 4days for the follow up or update on my request of blocking my phone. I will wait for this moment to be completely done, it is a small way of revenge for those thief or holdapers! I hope NTC or the big 3 mobile network will conduct a more high technology to locate or block totally those stolen phones and may captured those repair shop who can unblock such application for the benefits of selling stolen phones.

thank you for this blog in helping others in solving their stolen phones. god bless po.

Hello Anne! Thank you so much for sharing your experience here! :-) The Troll hopes that it inspires people to act and have the NTC block their stolen phones! Also, the Troll totally agrees with you – the NTC should crack down on phone shops that do illegal services! Thank you again and keep safe! -Homer

Hello Troll! My iPhone 5 was stolen just two nights ago. I’ve called 4 police districts and have gone to 2 police districts personally last night but unfortunately, they could do nothing to help. I don’t want to keep telling myself that my iPhone could still be found but I have a friend who used a trusted app called “iTracker” and found that my iPhone 5 is somewhere missing with someone at Talilong Street Caloocan just an hour after I had lost my phone. And then last night I had him track it again for $3 per tracking and found that my phone is at Marcela (Near Talilong Street.) The thief has my phone off but he/she turns it on sometimes, I know this because I try to call my number every 5 minutes, and if it can’t be reached, it would ring, but they wouldn’t pick it up.

I was wondering if you know any reliable trackers anywhere in metro manila, I already have the police department’s help if the true location is found.

I have all I need for my iPhone to be tracked. My IMEI CODE, My cellphone number, My Serial Number, My proof of ownership, even the plastic from my old sim card when I first bought my sim. All I need is a tracker and someone to track it, as I am financially and persistently willing to get my iPhone 5 back which I have owned for only less than half a year. Please do help me if you can.

Hello Tricia! Sorry for the late reply, the site got flooded with comments when its anti-spam system went down. Anyhoo – the Troll hates to be the bearer of bad news here, but the best you can really do is have your phone blocked. “Phone Trackers” are only exact down to a few hundred/thousand meters – meaning you really cant pin point where your phone is (truth be told, tracking services just provide false hope to people) – consequently, even if you know the general area where your phone is, the police will still not search the surrounding neighborhood. :-/ Hope this helps! -Gino
